So, some years ago some Californian sea lions moved onto the sea front in San Francisco. They established a little colony at Pier 39.
At first they were greeted with concern as a nuisance but before long it became apparent that they were in fact a new and welcome tourist attraction on the seafront, Now the end of the pier where opposite the pontoons where the sea lions haul-out has a nice viewing area with raised seats and a new viewing centre is being built on the pier to tell their story.
