There is always something very cheering about the flowering of the snowdrops in the latter part of January and into February.
These bright little flowers catch the light and the eye. They flag a change of the seasons - it is still winter, but Spring is on the way. They have survived the cold season quietly underground in their bulbs. Then equally quietly their leaves appear and shortly after them the flowers burst into view.
